Death where is your sting…

April 2, 2010

I woke up last night to gunfire and flashing lights. The teenage son of our neighbor across the street was chased by police into his driveway and in the chaos, police made the decision to shoot. [UPDATE: News reports are saying that the fatal gunshot may have been self inflicted] He died last night. Tragic.

Death is painful. Horrible. It seems pointless and empty.

This weekend we observe good Friday (the day that Jesus died) and Easter (the day he rose again). His death payed for the debts of the world and his resurrection showed that death had been defeated. When we look at the face of death, we no longer need to fear – it was defeated.

Prayers for my neighbor and for me to know how to minister to her family…please.
