NT Wright on the “Image of God”

August 5, 2010

Genesis 1 states that humans were made in “the image of God”. This often raises questions about in which way we are made in the image of God. God is Spirit (John 14) so this image cannot be a physical image (e.g. God doesn’t have ten fingers). Traditionally, Christians have pointed to the “communicable attributes” of God (e.g. lovingness, kindness, wisdom, justice, etc) as the way in which be bear God’s image. But I just saw this video of NT Wright (a biblical scholar who has taught at Oxford, Cambridge and St Andrews).  In it he argues that the image of God is like a mirror by which the world can see God in the lives of believers. Check it out.
