When we think about religion we often think in terms of free-will and abstract thought. We think of someone sitting down and considering the various religious options and picking the one that seems to be extentially and intellectually most satisfying.

But sometimes, it has more to do with what major we pick in college.


Ann Arbor the Irreligious?

According to bestplaces.net only a third of all Ann Arborites self affiliate with a religious group.

Polls like these need to be treated carefully because statistics can be deceptive (and how you ask the question can skew things considerably). But an apples to apples comparison with the nation as a whole shows that Ann Arbor is considerably less religious.

I guess it sort of matches my experience. I wonder what the causes are?
